PLC Automated Systems to Home in Aspen

 
At the top of Red Mountain in Aspen Colorado sits a multimillion dollar custom home featuring the best in high end finishes and modern technology extras. Jobsite was contracted to create innovative solutions for two major engineering and manufacturing projects; a custom sliding pool cover and a custom stairwell access into a private observatory.

Both projects required Jobsite’s top engineering ideas to create large scale PLC automated systems that not only had to be robust, but also capable of being hidden among the homes high-end architecture and decor.
 

PROJECT 1: Automated Observatory Stairs

Gracefully folding itself out of the ceiling, this one-of-a-kind step system revels itself with the push of a button. With a limited amount of space the steps were designed similar to those used in ships called “companionway steps”. This brilliant design, engineered in Solidworks, is compact and allows for safe and easy access in and out of the observatory. The stairs were fabricated completely out of stainless steel and include flashy LED lighting under each step. The complete system was engineered, manufactured, programmed and installed by Jobsite.

PROJECT 2: Automated Pool Cover

Another one-of-a-kind system, this pool cover is made up of 13 panels stacked inside a steel constructed cage hidden beneath a masonry wall. With the touch of a button the PLC controller automatically lowers and slides each panel into position on the heavy duty track. The tongue & groove design and waterproof urethane coating create a seal as each panel joins together. With a capacity of 500lbs per panel, the pool is instantly transformed into a usable deck or dance floor.
